As the year continues to pass by at incredible speed, we find ourselves once again growing our facial hair for a great cause.
People all across Australia are ditching their shavers to participate in Movember, a month dedicated to men’s health. To help raise awareness about this movement, here are the facts you need to know about Movember and how you can get involved.
What does it address?
The Movember Foundation is a charity that is dedicated to men’s health. Their aim is to prevent men dying too young from a range of health issues including prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and suicide. Their efforts have impacts on a global scale, and in the 13 years they have been in operation that have managed to fund more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the globe.
It’s expected that by the year 2030, the number of men dying prematurely will be reduced by 25%.

From 30 people taking part in the challenge back in 2003, to now over 5 million men and women taking part today, Movember is quickly gaining awareness and now you can help spread the word even further.
For those looking to get behind this great cause, there are a number of ways you can get involved.
Put down that shaver: For those with the ability and the curiosity, grow a fantastic moustache that you may not don otherwise. Get creative and inspire others to start conversations and make a donation to support real change.
Get moving: What better way to promote men’s health than by improving your own? Whether you want to go solo or participate in a team, set yourself a goal that is challenging and work towards it. Get others to sponsor your efforts and raise funds while having fun – sounds great!
Host an event: Consider yourself quite the party host? Why not host an event with friends, family and co-workers? From band nights to sporting tournaments, dinner parties to galas – the only limit is your imagination.
Find an event: Organisation not your strong suit? Find an event that has already been organised and show your support. There are heaps of options shown on the Movember Foundation’s website.
Donate: People keen to show support can donate in a few ways. They can either support a Mo Bro or Mo Sista’s efforts, or they can make a donation straight to the foundation itself. Some companies are also willing to match their employees’ efforts by matching donations dollar for dollar.
Get behind a great cause and help support the effort to prevent early death in men. For more information on the charity and the work being done, please visit the Movember Foundation website.
